The Grand Vision
Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central is undergoing what will be the largest airport development in aviation history. Upon completion, the facility will handle 260 million passengers annually, making it the world's largest airport.
Development Phases
Construction is proceeding in phases, with the new passenger terminal complex as the centerpiece. Multiple runways, extensive cargo facilities, and integrated logistics zones will create a comprehensive aviation ecosystem. Completion is targeted for the early 2030s.
Sustainability Focus
The expansion incorporates cutting-edge sustainability features including solar power generation, water recycling, and green building standards. Electric ground support equipment and sustainable aviation fuel infrastructure are integral to the design.
Economic Impact
The project is expected to create hundreds of thousands of jobs and significantly boost Dubai's GDP. The surrounding Dubai South development will house residential, commercial, and leisure facilities supporting the airport community.
